Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MSFFF3005 - Enhance finishes

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Prepare for work

  1. Workplace information, including materials application and safety information, and material safety data sheets (MSDS), is used to inform work practices
  2. Characteristics of the surface and the required surface finish are identified from work orders or instructions
  3. Processing and application techniques, time and safety requirements are identified and used for work planning
  4. Work health and safety (WHS) requirements, including ventilation requirements and personal protection needs, are observed throughout the work
  5. Tools, equipment and accessories are identified and checked for safe and effective operation for the surface finishing task
